I knew that pursuing a PhD would be a life-changing experience that could never be taken away from me. My high school biology teacher got me into biology, and if I hadn’t gone for my PhD, I knew I would regret it. I chose Gerstner Sloan Kettering for this experience because of the diversity of the research offered, the famous faculty, and the unique location in the incredibly diverse New York City. My research interests are immunology, stem cells, genetics, CRISPR, and neuroscience. I have found that it is important to be proud of being a PhD student. Always leave yourself many options. Don’t just stick to an old idea. Things change every day. Learn how to adapt to the situation.
