Areas of special interest
Interested in applying large-scale CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISPRi screens in hPSCs to uncover new aspects of human development and disease? Interested in human genomic variants and their impact on human health? Interested in 3D genome architecture and its rewiring in diabetes? We are looking for motivated individuals to join exciting projects in these areas. Below are examples of some recently funded grants from NIH.
- Center for scalable knockout and multimodal phenotyping in genetically diverse human genomes
- Genomic control of gene regulatory networks governing early human lineage decisions
- Discovery of diabetes-relevant beta cell enhancers through 4D enhancer mapping, integrative analysis, and large-scale CRISPRi perturbation screens
- Regulation of DNA methylation by TETs and QSER1
We are also looking for motivated individuals to work on pancreatic cancer models. A new area involves modeling neuroendocrine cancer progression, a collaboration between the Huangfu and Ziv Labs.
Graduate Student & Postdoctoral Fellow
Motivated individuals interested in fundamental or applied aspects of stem cell and developmental biology are encouraged to apply. Specific projects will be discussed and tailored towards individual interests and training background. Innovative and bold ideas are highly encouraged.
This position involves lab maintenance and participation in research projects under close supervision. Practical laboratory experience in molecular biology is required. Experience with tissue culture and/or mouse genetics is a plus but not necessary. We have a strong preference for candidates who can commit to work with us for at least two years. Our technicians have the opportunities to make intellectual contributions to research projects and subsequent publications as co-authors.
We are looking for a PhD scientist interested in taking on the responsibility of planning and overseeing a large consortium project funded by the NIH MorPhiC Program. This is an exciting collaboration between the Huangfu, Studer, Vierbuchen and Zhou labs.
We recently became part of a newly-formed NIH consortium aiming to develop a consistent catalog of molecular and cellular phenotypes for null alleles for every human gene. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an interest in pluripotent stem cell biology, cellular models of tissue development and human disease, and/or single cell genomics. The project will involve directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells paired with state-of-the art CRISPR screening with single cell genomic readouts (Perturb-Seq).
The Project Manager will work together with the Principal Investigators, Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Assistants, NIH Staff, and Project Managers from other Morphic Consortium teams to coordinate experimental efforts between each of the labs. This would involve a variety of tasks, including
- Will act as focal person for team communication and assume responsibility along with PI for meeting project expectations
- Develop overall project management plans including resource plans, budgets, and timelines
- Manage project to adhere to project timelines and deliverables; manage project costs to adhere to budget
- Implements and/or monitors regulatory, policies, standards, practices and procedures, ensuring compliance, response and resolution.
- Communicates and ensures compliance with policies and procedures, quality standards and improvement initiatives.
- Implements funding plans to ensure funds are spent in accordance with the stipulations of the grant/agreement. Initiates corrections via existing institutional mechanisms.
- Provides analytical support to the PI and Co-PI in order to assist with scientific and programmatic decision making.
- Work collaboratively with PI to create presentation visuals, reports and other materials used for education, dissemination of information, and presentations
- Establishes systems for the efficient input, throughput and output of program information.
- Communicates and ensures researcher compliance with all rules for grants management, Institutional, Divisional, Federal and sponsor policies and procedures, quality standards, and improvement initiatives, safety standards and external legal regulations (IRB, IACUC, stem cells, conflict of interest, etc.).
