Nan earned a master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Nan began his career journey in the Department of Systems Biology at the Beckman Institute, where he constructed efficient analytical platforms to facilitate leukemia research. This initial success propelled him into the industry, where he played a pivotal role at Kite Pharma, contributing a bespoke analytics platform to propel translational medical research pertaining to CAR-T therapies. Nan’s adeptness in developing and managing analytical frameworks flourished further in the Translational Medicine and Drug Discovery division of I-Mab Biopharma. Over time, his attention turned to cell fate decisions, delving deeper into the analysis of immune cells development from patient bone marrow single-cell RNA-seq samples amidst drug-perturbed conditions.

These diverse experiences and the desire to apply his computational skills to understand cell fate decisions led Nan to join the Huangfu lab at MSKCC. Here, he will build efficient analysis pipelines, and analyze complex datasets including those from cutting-edge perturbation experiments to unravel the intricate mechanisms governing cell fate determination.
