Lisa DeAngelis, MD, Chief Physician Executive and Scott M. and Lisa G. Stuart Chair of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), has been named to amNY Metro and PoliticsNY’s Power Players in Healthcare list. The list acknowledges and celebrates healthcare leaders who envision a better future for all New Yorkers and constitute New York’s ever-expanding and constantly improving healthcare system.

Lisa DeAngelis Honored with the Society of Neuro-Oncology’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Lisa DeAngelis, MD, Chief Physician Executive and Scott M. and Lisa G. Stuart Chair of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), was awarded the prestigious Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award. The SNO Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually to a meritorious individual who has made significant contributions in neuro-oncology over their career in clinical care and/or translational or basic research.

Kenneth Offit Received with the 2023 Basser Global Prize by The Basser Center for BRCA

Kenneth Offit, MD, MPH, clinical geneticist, Chief of the Clinical Genetics Service at MSK, Robert and Kate Niehaus in Inherited Cancer Genomics, and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs of the Department of Medicine, was honored with the 2023 Basser Global Prize by the Basser Center for BRCA at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Offit received this prestigious award in recognition of his work discovering and characterizing inherited genetic markers of cancer risk.

MSK Tops Prestigious List of Highly Cited Researchers 2023

MSK was ranked among one of the top organizations with the greatest number of highly cited scientific researchers worldwide, according to the annual list of Highly Cited Researchers published by the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate. Forty researchers from MSK and the Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) are recognized on this year’s list for demonstrating significant influence in their chosen fields by publishing multiple highly cited papers in their areas of expertise during the past decade. These papers are deemed to be the most scientifically impactful and are ranked in the top 1% by citations for their field and year.

MSK’s Legal Team Honored with 2023 Mansfield Certification from Diversity Lab

MSK’s Legal team achieved the 2023 Mansfield Certification, designed by Diversity Lab. To achieve this certification, legal departments were required to implement a behavioral science and data-driven approach to expanding the pool of qualified talent considered for leadership roles, incorporating a minimum of 50% historically underrepresented individuals. The certification also emphasized the need for transparency in advancing these pathways.

Andrea Ventura Recipient of The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research ASPIRE Award

Andrea Ventura, MD, PhD, cancer biologist, was awarded The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research ASPIRE Award. This award supports innovative ideas that have the potential to solve high-impact problems in cancer research but may not have extensive- or any-preliminary supporting data. Dr. Ventura received this award for his project titled, “Defining the Roles of ecDNAs in Cancer Initiation and Progression.”

Alvaro Quintanal-Villalonga Awarded the American Lung Association Research Institute Grant

Alvaro Quintanal-Villalonga, PhD, co-director of the Charles Rudin Lab, was one of eight New York State researchers awarded the American Lung Association Research Institute Grant. The research grant will provide funding for 129 innovative projects aimed at advancing current scientific understanding to combat and eliminate lung disease.

Noura Choudhury Awarded the LUNGevity’s 2023 Career Development Award

Noura Choudhury, MD, thoracic oncologist and early drug development specialist, has been honored with the 2023 LUNGevity’s 2023 Career Development Award. The award supports future research leaders who will keep the field of lung cancer research vibrant with innovative ideas. Dr. Choudhury received the award for her project titled, “Randomized Phrase II Trial of Iadademstat with ICI Maintenance in SCLC.”

J. Isabelle Choi Among Crain’s New York Business 2023 40 under 40

J. Isabelle Chi, MD, radiation oncologist, director of research and clinical director of the New York Proton Center, was named to the list of Crain’s 40 under 40. The list recognizes New Yorkers who have climbed the corporate ladder, at times charting a new path where one never existed. Dr. Choi was recognized for leading research and clinical operations at the New York Proton Center; a project that was 10 years in the making.

Neil Iyengar Received the Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium Oncology Hero Award by the Physicians Education Resource

Neil Iyengar, MD, breast oncologist, received the Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium (CFS) Oncology Hero Award from the Physicians Education Resource at their 41st annual CFS conference. The conference brings together thousands of health care professionals for an exciting three-day conference that promotes the delivery of evidence -based, state-of-the art cancer care.
