As I neared completion of my undergraduate degree, pursuing a PhD appealed to me because it meant I would be able to continue learning with added creativity and freedom. At Gerstner Sloan Kettering, we have an incredible group of professors and administrative staff who truly go above and beyond to ensure that every student has what he or she needs to succeed. Being able to come into work every day and design my own experiments to answer questions that I am excited about is an experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I am very interested in the immune system, in particular how it recognizes and responds to cancer. Harnessing the mechanisms our immune system has developed to fight cancer is a powerful way to target cancer therapeutically.
