It is incredibly exciting for me to figure out the way the world works, from how DNA replication is controlled to what the universe is made of. I have an early memory of being in elementary school and students from the local university would come and do little experiments with us on Monday afternoons. We would do things like separating the pigments in leaves and making ice cream in a bag. My love of science grew from there all the way to Gerstner Sloan Kettering. The main reason I chose GSK for my PhD is the faculty, which includes the most number of people I was interested in working with. I also liked the idea of the core course, where we would get a good base in many important topics and also be able to get into our thesis lab by the beginning of our second year.
