Our comprehensive histology, microscopy and cytogenetics services include:

  • Sample preparation: We can assist with fixation, embedding and sectioning of FFPE and cryo-embedded samples. We can assist with whole-mount sample preparation including tissue clearing and expansion microscopy and can prepare samples for spatial -omics assays.
  • Histological staining: We offer a wide range of stains including H&E, trichrome, GMS, oil red, EdU and TUNEL staining.
  • Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence: We offer automated IHC and multiplex IF services, including Lunaphore COMET cyclic IF for 40-plex marker staining. We maintain a wide range of pre-validated antibodies and provide a validation service for user-supplied antibodies.
  • RNA-FISH: We offer automated RNA-FISH using the ACD RNAScope protocol either alone or in conjunction with IF/IHC.
  • Whole slide scanning: We offer both brightfield and fluorescence whole-slide scanning.
  • Widefield microscopy: Our facility offers upright, inverted and stereo- microscopes for brightfield and fluorescence imaging, with instruments equipped with incubation chambers for long-term live cell imaging.
  • Confocal microscopy: We offer access to four laser-scanning and one spinning disk confocal microscopes, all equipped with live-cell imaging chambers. Our Leica Stellaris microscopes offer IR imaging and FLIM measurements.
  • Atomic force microscopy: Our facility operates two atomic force microscopes for single-molecule imaging, force spectroscopy and nanomechanical characterization of cells, organoids and tissues in air or liquid. An AFM is equipped with a FluidFM module for nanosyringing or nanopipetting of femtoliter-scale volumes
  • Super-resolution microscopy: Our facility offers Airyscan, SIM and SMLM (PALM/STORM/SMLM) microscopy for imaging beyond the diffraction limit.
  • Optical tweezers: We operate a Lumicks C-Trap quad optical trap with laser scanning confocal imaging for single-molecule force measurements and cell nanomechanics.
  • Image analysis: We can consult and assist with image processing and quantification on all types of microscopy data. We offer several workstations with software including Imaris, FIJI, QuPath, CellProfiler, Autoquant and more for user booking

  • DNA-FISH: We perform and quantify FISH experiments on metaphase and interphase samples, including whole chromosome painting, spectral karyotyping and M-FISH. We offer DNA-FISH on tissue samples both alone and in conjunction with IF/IHC/RNA-FISH.
  • Optical genome mapping: In collaboration with the [Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO)](https://genomics.mskcc.org) , we offer Bionano optical genome mapping for high-resolution chromosomal structural variant detection in mouse and human research samples.
