Ray did his undergraduate at National Taiwan University and continued to get a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. He joined Fred Alt’s lab in Children’s Hospital Boston as a bioinformatician to help develop an analysis pipeline for HTGTS project and picked up basic biological concepts. He then got his Ph.D. under the guidance of Molly Gale Hammel at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where he developed SAKE that provided an easy interface for analyzing NGS/single-cell transcriptomic data. In Scott’s lab, he helps integrate NGS multi-omics data to identify altered targets/pathways.
