MSK Honors in 2025

Excellence in Patient Care and Workplace Culture

In 2025, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) once again earned recognition at the highest levels for both patient care and workplace culture. MSK received Magnet® designation, one of the greatest distinctions in nursing, for the third time, and continued to be ranked among the world’s top oncology centers. For the eighth straight year, MSK was named one of the nation’s best employers by Forbes, and for the first time, as one of the top 10 Best Workplaces for Innovators by Fast Company

Newsweek: World’s Best Hospitals

MSK was ranked as one of the top two oncology centers in the world in 2025 — in 2026, MSK rose to the top spot on Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals to become the No. 1 hospital in the world for oncology. The rankings were based on three criteria: peer hospital recommendations, professional accreditations (such as for patient safety and quality of care), and patient-reported outcomes. “Our patients are the inspiration behind our mission,” says MSK President and CEO Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS. “We relentlessly pursue exceptional outcomes and a future where every patient experience sets a new standard.”

U.S. News & World Report: Best Cancer Centers in the Nation

In its annual Best Hospitals listing, U.S. News & World Report recognized MSK as the best cancer center in the Northeast, the No. 2 hospital for cancer care in the nation, and the No. 1 hospital in the nation for urology. MSK has ranked as one of the top two cancer hospitals in the United States and the best cancer center in the Northeast since these rankings were established more than 35 years ago.

Magnet® Designation for Nursing

MSK was once again recognized with Magnet® designation, one of the highest honors a healthcare organization can achieve in nursing excellence. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognizes only about 10% of U.S. hospitals with this distinction. This is MSK’s third time receiving Magnet® designation, a testament to the outstanding patient care, strong leadership, and culture of continuous improvement within MSK Nursing.

Press Ganey: Guardian of Excellence Award and Pinnacle of Excellence Award, Patient Experience

In April 2025, Press Ganey — a leading research firm that evaluates patient satisfaction — announced its annual patient experience awards. MSK was recognized with the Guardian of Excellence Award, given to the top 5% of healthcare providers nationwide for outstanding patient experience during hospital stays. The award considers patient satisfaction, engagement, and overall experience with care. Last year, MSK also received the Pinnacle of Excellence Award, which celebrates sustained top-tier performance over a three-year period. MSK was one of just four organizations recognized in the Patient Experience category.

Forbes: Best Places to Work

In 2025, MSK was named one of Forbes’ 2025 Best Large Employers for the eighth straight year, ranking No. 11 out of 700 organizations, and No. 2 in the healthcare and social services industry. MSK was named the No. 1 cancer center to work for in the U.S. The honor is based on direct, anonymous feedback from employees who rated their own workplace on culture, opportunities for growth, and overall satisfaction.

Fast Company: Best Workplaces for Innovators

For the first time, MSK was named one of Fast Company’s Best Workplaces for Innovators, ranking No. 9 out of 100 on its 2025 list of awardees. The award recognizes companies that excel at fostering creative cultures by encouraging and supporting innovation from employees across the entire organization. The recognition is an affirmation of MSK’s commitment to our core value of innovation with lasting impact.
