Life in Pediatrics

Therese Weisbrot

Therese Weisbrot, our child life coordinator, gets to know every child, young adult, and family member during treatment and recovery.

We look beyond a cancer diagnosis to focus on your child and family as a whole, by offering a supportive environment, engaging activities, and celebrations of milestones.

Child life specialists are always on hand to address the social and emotional needs of your child, and provide support to the whole family, including siblings. Your child can also benefit from the range of complementary therapies we offer, including music therapy, mind/body therapies, dance and movement therapy, yoga, and touch therapy.

Teachers are available to instruct all grades, from kindergarten through high school. And when the time is right, they can also help your child transition back to the school routine. Our patients can also enjoy a variety of toys and games as well as group activities in our Recreation Center, as well as special events that take place throughout the year. Spring Prom is one of the most exciting days in our Department of Pediatrics, when family members, friends, and staff join together to celebrate with our patients.

Teenagers and young adults receiving care at MSK are invited to use The Lounge on Memorial Hospital’s 14th floor.
