Overview
This is a two (2) day course. This intense acute and critical care review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the AACN-CCRN/E/K or AACN-PCCN/K certification exam or as a clinical practice review seminar. The lectures and time allotment are based on the exam blueprints and will cover all body systems, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment strategies and treatment options for medical and surgical critically ill patients. This course will benefit those who have critical and/or progressive care experience and need/want a final review prior to taking the CCRN/PCCN certification exam. This seminar is not intended as a basic critical care course and is recommended for nurses with at least one year of critical or progressive care experience.
Course Objectives
- Identify the common critical care needs of patients with single and multi-system organ abnormalities
- Outline assessment strategies and treatment options for common acute critical care problems.
- Review the pathophysiology for single and multi-system dysfunction and discuss the pharmacological management for each.
- Describe the AACN synergy model of caring and blueprint for the CCRN/PCCN certification exam.
