Despite concerns to the contrary, perioperative b-blockers do not appear to have an effect on the rate of exacerbations observed in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) undergoing lung resection surgery, according to the results of a study conducted at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
