Intermediate Tai Chi



Tai chi, a Chinese martial art, is a low impact exercise that is part of a healthier lifestyle. Research shows tai chi can reduce pain, improve balance and mobility, and increase muscle tone. For people who have been treated for cancer, tai chi can help reduce stress and support joint and bone health, which can become weaker after receiving certain cancer therapies.

This six-week series is for people who have successfully progressed beyond the Tai Chi for Beginners program, or who practice the basics of tai chi regularly, and are ready to learn more. Intermediate Tai Chi introduces more challenging moves, tai chi theory, and advanced principles of martial arts to build onto your form.


This series is open to people who have been treated for cancer and their caregivers.

This class is taught online through Zoom, a videoconference system.

You will need:

  • A chair
  • A small towel
  • Water to stay hydrated 
  • A computer with a high-speed Internet connection, or a tablet, such as an iPad, or a smartphone
  • A webcam, speaker, and microphone. If you do not have a microphone and speaker, you can participate in the class by phone. You will receive the phone number once you register
  • Google Chrome or Firefox as your internet browser

What to Wear:

  • Comfortable clothing so you can move easily

You Must Be Able To:

  • Sit upright, lift arms overhead (no IV lines should be present)
