Staying active is one of the most important ways to manage back pain. When done in a controlled and progressive manner, core stabilization exercises and light stretching such as Pilates can help avoid stiffness and weakness, minimize recurrences of back pain, and reduce the severity and duration of episodes of back pain.
In this workshop, an MSK Fitness Instructor will share how the Pilates method can help you create space in the spine; strengthen the core; stretch muscles, tendons, and ligaments; and put the body into more functional alignment. You will also practice a series of exercises to create more ease and comfort as you move through your day.
This workshop is open to people who have been treated for cancer and their caregivers.
