MSK Kids Convocation

On Thursday, June 11, at , 45 high school seniors will participate in the MSK Kids 14th Annual Convocation ceremony. Each year, MSK celebrates our youngest patients (who have all battled cancer or a blood disorder) who are receiving their high school diploma or equivalency. At this year’s celebration, 45 teenagers will be recognized from near and far thanks to a little help from technology. This special event allows patients, their families, and their care teams to come together to celebrate the tremendous courage and perseverance these young adults have shown throughout their diagnosis and treatment.

Graduates participating in the MSK Kids celebration are either current patients or were treated as children and no longer come to MSK on a regular basis. The day is meaningful to not only the graduates and their families but also to MSK Kids clinical staff who have taken care of these young adults throughout the years.

The event is planned by MSK Kids and is held in coordination with the New York City Department of Education Hospital Schools program. As part of the program, MSK has several full-time teachers who play an active role in delivering educational resources during their care to pediatric patients. Through this initiative, MSK pediatric patients can seamlessly continue their schooling or education.

Patients and their families, MSK staff, friends and supporters can join in celebrating this inspiring group of young adults by tuning into Vimeo.
