The May 13 installment of “MSK Science Spotlight” will feature co-winner of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Prize, Carl June, MD. Dr. June is Director of the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies and Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Andrew Kung, MD, PhD, Chair of MSK Kids, will host this session featuring “Updates on CAR T Cells” from Dr. June.

In 2018, Dr. June partnered with MSK’s Michel Sadelain, MD, PhD, to publish a seminal review of the current landscape of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) therapy in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). In the comprehensive review article by the immunotherapy luminaries, Drs. Sadelain and June highlighted the emerging treatment for hematologic cancers known as CAR T cells, which was developed at MSK. The paper was the first in a series being published by NEJM.
