Flu, RSV, and COVID-19 are common illnesses caused by viruses. They tend to spread more in the fall and winter. Getting vaccinated lowers your risk of getting sick. If you do get sick, it also lowers your risk of serious illness.
Cancer and cancer treatment can weaken your immune system, which is your body’s defense against infection. This is called being immunocompromised. When your immune system is weakened, it’s harder for your body to fight off these viruses, and they’re more likely to make you very sick.
