Outpatient Care for Stem Cell Transplants

Share

When you receive a stem transplant in the outpatient setting, you will stay at the MSK 75th Street Patient Residence or a nearby apartment. Every day, you will go to the cellular therapy infusion unit, which is dedicated to caring for people having transplants. The infusion unit is located in the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is only one block from the MSK residence. You will be admitted to the hospital only if more care is needed.

Someone will need to stay with you during treatment. A caregiver needs to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help you monitor side effects and help you get to your appointments.

MSK has a number of support programs for caregivers and family members. These include individual and group counseling and online support groups.
