This one-year fellowship within the Department of Radiology is designed to provide fellows with extensive experience in MRI and CT of adult and pediatric neuro-oncologic imaging. This program includes training in conventional diagnostic imaging of the brain, spine, and head and neck, as well as in advanced imaging techniques (i.e., perfusion and diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, and functional MRI). The program will also provide opportunities to perform and assist in various interventional procedures including lumbar and cervical punctures, myelograms, spine and head and neck biopsies, and kyphoplasty.
Fellows actively participate in the performance and interpretation of studies, as well as in consultations with clinical staff. Fellows attend and participate in various multidisciplinary clinical conferences. Fellows also attend weekly didactic conferences which occur at both the main campus as well as at our affiliate, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Elective time is provided to pursue research opportunities, and fellows are encouraged to participate with faculty in clinical research projects. Additionally, fellows can participate in the Hands-on Clinical fMRI and Diffusion Tractography Course, a three-day ACCME-accredited course given by MSK faculty. Fellows have no overnight call responsibilities, as we are staffed by overnight faculty radiologists.
The Department of Radiology is a fully equipped teaching, research, and clinical facility with long-standing support from federal and private agencies for ongoing research and development. Its exceptional facilities enable the development of advanced cancer imaging methods, and because MSK is a tertiary cancer center, the patient population is very diverse. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes fourteen CT scanners (16- and 64-slice and dual-energy) and twenty-one MRI scanners (ten 3T and eleven 1.5T scanners). The neuroradiology service within the Department of Radiology includes 17 faculty members with subspecialties in head and neck, spine, and brain imaging.

US applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in radiology, as well as have a License to Practice Medicine in New York State before the start of the fellowship. Foreign applicants must obtain ECFMG certification, a clinical visa, and a Limited Permit or a full License to Practice Medicine in New York State prior to the fellowship. MSKCC sponsor H-1B and E-3 visas for this program.
