Steve Glass

Steve Glass is a transformational healthcare executive with more than 38 years of leadership experience across nationally recognized academic medical centers, integrated health systems, and the health insurance industry. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for aligning strategy, finance, operations, and innovation to drive sustainable growth, strengthen organizational performance, and improve patient and member outcomes.

Most recently, Steve served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Medical Mutual, where he led a comprehensive organizational transformation by rebuilding the executive leadership team, developing a five-year strategic plan, and aligning the organization around growth, operational excellence, and employee engagement. Under his leadership, the company accelerated Medicare Advantage growth, strengthened enterprise capabilities in data analytics, artificial intelligence, continuous improvement, and long-range financial planning, while significantly improving employee engagement and employer recognition.

Prior to Medical Mutual, Steve spent nearly two decades as Chief Financial Officer of Cleveland Clinic, helping lead one of the world’s premier healthcare organizations through a period of unprecedented growth and financial transformation. As a member of the executive leadership team, he played a pivotal role in expanding the organization from approximately $3 billion to more than $13 billion in annual revenue while strengthening its financial position, building a world-class finance organization of more than 3,000 caregivers, and establishing the enterprise data and analytics infrastructure that supported strategic decision-making across the global health system. He also led complex international business initiatives, developed innovative care and business models, and negotiated strategic partnerships across multiple countries.

Earlier in his career, Steve 14 years with MedStar Health, where he held progressively senior leadership roles culminating as Vice President of Finance. During that time, he led financial consolidations following multiple health system mergers, implemented enterprise ERP and revenue cycle platforms, modernized financial operations, and built scalable financial infrastructures that supported rapid organizational growth.

A Certified Public Accountant (inactive), Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and completed executive education programs at Harvard University. He has served on numerous healthcare and business boards, including the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the Ohio Hospital Association—where he served as Board Chair—and several healthcare innovation organizations. Known for developing high-performing leadership teams, fostering collaborative cultures, and executing bold strategic initiatives, Steve continues to be recognized as a respected leader in healthcare transformation, financial stewardship, and organizational innovation.
