Sue Yao joined the Office of Technology Development in 2015 as a Senior Licensing Manager in its Technology Management and Commercialization unit.
Previously, Sue was a Senior Business Development Manager at Purdue Pharma from 2011-2014. Her responsibilities included sourcing, analyzing, and executing pharmaceutical product licensing and company acquisitions; conducting due diligence, market research, and financial analyses; and interfacing with the investment community. From 2008-2011, she served as Special Coordinator to the Chairman of the Board of Purdue Pharma. In this role, her responsibilities included initiating and leading ongoing process improvement for global strategic planning and executive management.
Prior to this, Sue was an Associate Director with UBS Investment Bank, where she worked in the Leveraged Finance & Financial Sponsors Group from 2007-2008. She served earlier as an Associate in the Global Healthcare Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co. Sue also has worked as a Clinical Project Manager in New York University’s Charles B. Wang Health Clinic, and as a Project Manager in China’s Ministry of Health, Global Liaison unit, where she was based in Beijing.
Sue received her M.B.A. degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Health Administration and Medical Ethics degree from Yale University. She is also a CFA Charter holder. She graduated from Beijing University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
