Como intensivista trato afecciones potencialmente mortales como insuficiencia respiratoria, insuficiencia cardíaca, shock circulatorio, insuficiencia renal y hemorragia aguda. En la UCI, nuestro objetivo principal es brindar medidas de apoyo, que incluyen, entre otras, soporte vital real, mientras el cuerpo intenta recuperarse de una enfermedad potencialmente mortal. Nuestro objetivo secundario es apoyar la comodidad de los pacientes y mantener la conciencia para que puedan participar en fisioterapia y otras actividades y no quedar condicionados durante su enfermedad. Nuestro tercer objetivo es apoyar a las familias de los pacientes durante este momento de crisis.
