Get to Know Me

As an expert in pulmonary medicine, I have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of respiratory conditions. I focus on the diagnosis of lung cancer, as well as the management of inflammatory and infectious disorders of the lung. Additionally, I specialize in treating tracheal diseases and airway disorders such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma.

My passion lies in treating lung conditions that arise because of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges posed by these therapies, I strive to provide specialized and compassionate care to patients navigating these complex treatments.

I see patients at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and Memorial Hospital.

I am part of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Pulmonary Service, which is known for being a leader in managing adverse side effects in the lung from cancer treatment. I collaborate with my colleagues across various departments to provide the most comprehensive care possible to patients.

I am deeply committed to creating treatment plans that take into consideration the unique circumstances and needs of each patient. I believe in open communication, and partner with my patients so that they are involved in decisions about their care and can voice their preferences.

My research is related to investigating the interplay of risk factors and biomarkers among patients predisposed to developing these complex pulmonary disorders. By identifying predictive markers and refining risk criteria, my research aims to shift from reactive approaches to proactive care. This holds the potential to transform clinical practice, so that early intervention and personalized treatment is tailored to reduce the impact of chemotherapy and immunotherapy-associated lung conditions.

Prior to joining MSK, I worked for nearly 20 years as an academic physician, scientist and administrator, and a leader in various local and regional organizations. In addition to serving as Program Chair (2009) and President (2012) at the New York State Thoracic Society, I was also the Chair of the Critical Care Committee, and a member of the Medical Advisory Board at LiveOnNY, a nonprofit organization dedicated to organ and tissue donation in New York. I am a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Thoracic Society, and the New York Academy of Medicine.

While I am not working or taking care of patients, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking Indian cuisine, biking, and listening to music.
