This calming guided meditation helps support and sustain you if you are feeling anxious before a scan or other procedure. (12 minutes)
Welcome to this guided visualization for scans. It has already been a difficult journey just to reach this point, this time and place where you go for scans. For some the scan is another trial. For others, it is waiting for the results. But for all, a trip that pulls you away from your worries and fears, and into a space of calm can help.
Today, let journey will take us to a mountain top. A place high above the noise and clamor of the day. A place of quiet and calm, way up a spectative can change, and you can see all, for miles and miles.
It will be a challenge to reach the peak, but there will be satisfaction and a sense of achievement in doing so. Just as there can be satisfaction in knowing, You were able to go for scounds in the first place.
We begin by settling in and getting comfortable. Wear a viewer. Allow your body to unwind a little as you begin to let the tension in your body drop away. Take a few breaths as you do this, perhaps letting out a gentle sigh as you let that tension release with each breath.
Breathe in. Ugh, hungry, eat out. Nice and slow. Nice and easy. If you start to feel tense, you can always come back to simply taking a breath in and releasing that tension as you breathe out.
You find yourself walking through a broad valley on a beautiful sunny day. The sky is blue with white clouds rolling by. There are green fields with a river running through the middle of the valley and you can see the sunlight glinting and reflecting off the water as it flows out into the sea.
There are trees lining the sides of the valley and as you look further, you see foothills and then beyond mountains. You fix your eyes on a particular mountain top. Knowing that is your destination. Although it seems far, it is where you are determined to go.
Around you is a meadow. And the grass beneath your feet is thick with a multitude of wild flowers. You take in the rich variety of colors scattered all around. And the fragrance is sweet. and fresh as you breathe in and out.
Breathe in and breathe out. Your journey is long and the destination far, but your step is light as you steadily move forward. enjoying the beauty of the valley around you.
Although it may not seem it, with every step you are cultivating endurance and that endurance prepares you for the challenges of reaching the peak of taking yet another scan.
Breathe in and out as you place one foot. After another, on step, after, the next. The grass beneath is soft and springy as you walk, and you notice clouds of butterflies and other insects take flight as you pass by.
There's a gentle breeze coming down from the mountains beyond, and you can feel That breathes on your skin. You can smell the fresh mountain there as you breathe in and breathe out.
You reach the trees and begin to follow a path that leads you up and out of the valley. Dappled sunlight shines down through the canopy of leaves. Illuminating the floor of the forest.
Possing by, you spot the different varieties of trees around you. More oak leaves fly in the trail as you merge, ash and elm. Brushing your hand against the trunks of the trees, you feel the difference in the texture of the bark.
Some are rough and cracked, others, the bark is smooth like leather. Breathe in and breathe out as you continue to make your way out of the valley. In and out.
Just before where you leave the valley you pause to look back. Looking down, you can see the tops of the trees, watching as birds take flight. You see the silver ribbon of the river, meandering in the distance, and meadows where you first started.
You realize that already by simply taking one step At a time you have traveled so very far.
Time passes as you continue up into the foothills. Noticing the subtle change in the flora. Now they're a pine and spruce trees all around. And the trail and the foot is now covered in a carpet of pine needles.
Hear them as you walk. Crunching, smell the fragrance of the pine as you continue to breathe in and out. Breathe in and breathe.
The mountain peak is up ahead. in your sights as you make your way up the slope. The way you get steeper and more challenging as you continue. The ground becoming rocky and the air cooler and sharper.
You continue to walk legs working hard, muscles, aching as they stretch and push. Breathe in. Breathe out.
The going gets even harder as you climb the incline. You have to focus on each moment now. One foot hold. On hand hold at a time. No more. No less.
Your awareness flows into a trance -like state. One that comes from slow, repetitive physical exertion. Free of thought, free of worry, just experiencing each moment as you climb.
Let time fade as you immerse yourself in the climb. All your concentration, all your focus on your goal. One step, one breath, one step. One breath. In and out.
And then, apparently without warning, the slope is the way and you realize you have reached the peak.
You have arrived at your destination, A place of quiet and calm, high above the hills and the valley below.
A sense of achievement flows through you. You succeeded in your goal. You reached this place of calm.
Allow a feeling of gratitude to also grow. gratitude that you have been able to reach this peak. Just as you have been able to reach this point where you can go through another scan with the sky, the deepest blue and the air crystal clear, you can see for miles and miles.
Taking in the vast, glorious sight before you, you reflect on this change of perspective. Let any worries and fears fade away. And simply enjoy this moment, higher above, in the sun.
Breathe in and breathe out.
There will be other mountains to climb, other scans to take and challenges to overcome, but for now rest and be content you are here now at this point in your journey and you can see for miles and miles. you
