Dr. David Mao cares for people experiencing seizures, Parkinson’s, memory issues, and other neurologic complications of cancer at MSK in Manhattan and MSK Nassau.

Running marathons has taught me a lot about life. You adapt and you overcome. There are tough miles you can’t skip, but with the right people supporting you, you persevere.

Hi, I’m Dr. David Mao, a clinical neurophysiologist and epileptologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for people with seizures, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and side effects from cancer treatment, including nerve injury.

The brain is complex. Injuries aren’t always visible, but they can deeply affect how we remember, speak, and make decisions.

During your first visit, you’ll meet me and the nurse I work with closely. We’ll get to know you, then we’ll assess your brain function, strength, sensations, walking ability, and overall health. As a team, we’ll answer your questions and set priorities with our recommended course of action.

Training for marathons takes time, but with support, the finish line slowly comes into focus. Together, we’ll pace this challenge and keep you moving forward toward healing and restoration.
