VIDEO | 01:38

Dr. Craig Nolan treats brain tumors, cancer that has spread to the brain or spine, and neurologic complications of cancer at MSK in New York City, guiding each patient forward with a personalized plan.

When you hear a diagnosis, the first question is often “Why me?” While there’s no easy answer, Dr. Nolan and his team are here to show you the way forward. Before he ever walks into the room, he has studied every image and detail of your case. He consults with colleagues across MSK’s neuro-oncology program and brings complex cases to the team’s tumor board, so a great deal of thought and care stands behind every decision.

When patients ask, “Why me?” I don’t have an easy answer. Cancer can happen to any of us. But my team and I will help show you the way forward.

Hi, I’m Dr. Craig Nolan, a neurologist and neuro-oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I treat patients with brain tumors, cancer that has spread to the brain or spine, and nervous system complications from cancer or its treatment.

The brain shapes our personality and everything that makes us who we are. That’s why I want to understand what matters to you, not just what appears on a scan.

By the time I walk into the room to meet you, I’ve already studied every image and detail of your case. I’ll explain where we are and, more importantly, where we’re going. We will look at the different paths and options we can take together. I often tell my patients that while statistics can provide context, they don't define one person's outcome.

And if another perspective could help improve your plan, I’ll consult with colleagues across our neuro-oncology program and bring complex cases to our team’s tumor board. There is a great deal of thought and care behind your treatment plan, both during our visit and outside the exam room. The trust you place in me is an awesome responsibility, one I never take lightly.
