When you learn your child has a tumor, your world changes in an instant. In that moment, you need a team that surrounds your family with as much heart as they do science.

My name is Dr. Ira Dunkel. I’m a pediatric oncologist at MSK Kids at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I have spent more than 30 years devoted to caring for children, teenagers, and young adults with brain and eye tumors.

My life’s work has been researching how to make that care better, finding ways to help more children with less side effects. It’s important to me that my patients have as normal a life as possible despite their illness.

In cases where the standard treatments are not good enough, our research and clinical trials provide new options that often aren't available anywhere else.

One of most reassuring things that I can offer you is the depth and breadth of the experts who will care for your child. When you see me, you are getting the input of a whole network of scientists, surgeons, radiation experts, nurses, and child life counselors, all of whom are completely committed to helping you and your child. Our entire team stands with you from the very first visit onward.
