Dr. James Huang uses minimally invasive surgery to treat cancers of the chest, including lung, thymic, esophageal, and mesothelioma, at MSK in Manhattan and MSK Commack.
When I was a fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I realized that there is no other place I’d rather be. The complete devotion to people with cancer. The ground-breaking research discoveries. This is a special place. Every day at MSK, there is progress and hope.
I’m Dr. James Huang, a thoracic surgeon specializing in lung cancer, thymic cancer, and mediastinal tumors. Often, patients with some of the rarest cancers come to see me. As Program Director for our Thoracic Fellowship and Residency Programs, I have the privilege of training the next generation of thoracic surgeons in the most advanced techniques.
If you’ve just been diagnosed, I understand you may be feeling tremendous anxiety. We’re here to guide you through the whole process, with empathy and expertise to ease your concerns. I’ll never rush you through your appointment; I want you to understand the plan and know exactly what’s ahead, as we make decisions together about your care.
I specialize in minimally invasive surgery, which enables me to make smaller incisions so you can recover faster. My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing my patients get on with their lives as quickly as possible. That’s when I know I’ve done my job and made a difference for you.
I’m sure you treasure your family as much as I do mine. My goal is to get you back to health so you can spend time with the people you love. It’s why I’m a cancer surgeon and the reason I practice at MSK.
