Dr. Komal Jhaveri cares for people with breast cancer at MSK, pairing compassionate, family-centered care with leadership in early-phase clinical trials.
Science has always fascinated me, but what drew me to medicine was the human side of it – how knowledge and compassion can come together to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Hi, I’m Dr. Komal Jhaveri, a breast medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for people with breast cancer and also lead research in early drug development to help bring new treatments to patients who need them.
Oncology, to me, is about being a steadfast companion throughout each patient’s cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. The conversations we have, the trust we build, and the opportunity to offer care and hope are what make this work profoundly meaningful.
Research is also a core part of who I am. I’ve spent years developing and testing new drugs for breast cancer, and witnessing those treatments progress from clinical trials to approved medicines and available to patients around the world is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.
My guiding philosophy is to treat every person as I would my own family, focusing not only on helping them live longer, but also on helping them live well.
