Dr. Mark Bilsky treats metastatic spine tumors at MSK – benign and malignant – offering minimally invasive surgery to improve function, recovery, and quality of life.

When a tumor affects your spine, it can take a serious toll on your movement and your overall quality of life, which is why having access to advanced surgical and radiation options is so important.

Hi, I'm Dr. Mark Bilsky, a neurosurgeon and Chief of the Multidisciplinary Spine Tumor Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I treat benign and malignant primary and metastatic spine tumors.

Thanks to ongoing research and innovation, our spine surgeries are now safer, less invasive, and significantly shorter, made possible with a combination of advanced radiation techniques, such as stereotactic radiosurgery and proton beam radiation.

We will make decisions together that reflect what matters most to you. Those decisions will focus on improving your neurologic function and mobility, stabilizing your spine, controlling tumor growth, and most importantly, improving your quality of life.

I’m proud to say that MSK’S surgical techniques and the process we use for making treatment decisions are now used by most centers around the world. We carefully study treatment outcomes and use what we learn to continuously improve how we care for patients.

My patients inspire me every day. They are why I have dedicated my life to the work we do at MSK. It’s a privilege to witness strength in the face of fear, to offer comfort, and to be entrusted with your care.
