Dr. Viviane Tabar treats brain, pituitary, and skull base tumors at MSK, bringing 20+ years of expertise in advanced, minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Hello, I'm Dr. Viviane Tabar, a neurosurgeon and physician-scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I am also the Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, and I’ve been operating on tumors of the brain, the pituitary gland, and the skull base for over 20 years.

In my lab, I work to find new insights and treatments for brain tumors, and ways to repair the injured brain.

In the clinic, my focus is on providing you with the best medical advice for your condition. If you need surgery, we will discuss it in detail, including the aspects of the operation itself, your hospital stay, and your recovery.

I understand the anxiety and worry of someone facing a brain tumor diagnosis. I will spend as much time as we need to answer your questions, and those of your family members or friends who come along to the visit.

I am very proud to lead a world-class team at the Department of Neurosurgery at MSK, where we have access to the very latest technologies and innovations in brain surgery. These tools help me design the best surgical approach to remove the tumor and also preserve your quality of life.

I work closely with a team of radiation and medical oncologists, highly trained nurses, therapists, and mental health professionals, all focused on our goal of achieving the best possible outcome for you.

I have always considered it a privilege to be entrusted with treating a person with a brain tumor. At the Department of Neurosurgery at MSK, I am proud to say we are leaders in the field, setting standards for the rest of the world.
