Cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy, and other prescription medicines can lead to weakened bones. Losing bone density can increase a person’s risk of fractures, falls, and broken bones.
Therapeutic Yoga for Stronger Bones is a six-week class designed for people who may have bone loss or struggle with balance issues. Yoga is a mind-body therapy you can do to improve balance and coordination, both important for preventing falls. When done safely and actively, yoga can support compression forces in the muscles to build strong bone. With guidance from of our certified yoga therapist, you will learn yoga exercises that increase your range of motion, flexibility, relaxation, and strength. We will also practice simple breathing techniques and meditations that support relaxation.
