Having worked in a bioengineering lab in college, I am interested in the intersection of technology and medicine. I chose to persue my doctorate at GSK because of MSK’s excellence in developing cutting-edge technologies, such as computational methods, novel biomaterials, and new devices, and applying them to translational research and clinical practice. I am particularly interested in using computational approaches to understand cancer biology and build towards early detection and precision medicine. With a well-established sample collection and processing pipeline, MSK is the perfect environment for such research. Additionally, I like that GSK is student-centered and has a tightly-knit community. All the resources are easily accessible and everyone is highly supportive. In addition, its location in NYC is hard to beat. We get loads of networking opportunities and are encouraged to freely explore future career paths. Despite being a small community, GSK has alumni in virtually every field, not just limited to academia, and they are all very reachable.
