Meet Adrienne Boire: Neurologist & Neuro-Oncologist at MSK

Dr. Adrienne Boire treats rare cancers that have spread to the nervous system, including leptomeningeal metastasis, at MSK, pairing research with patient care.

From the very beginning of my career, I was fascinated by how science could unlock mysteries about the human body. I also knew I wanted to care or people while understanding disease at the molecular level.

Hi, I’m Dr. Adrienne Boire, a neuro-oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for people whose cancers have spread to the space surrounding the nervous system, a condition called leptomeningeal metastasis.

I study the disease that I treat. My laboratory is devoted to cancer in the leptomeninges – one of the only labs in the world to take this on. As a result, I can translate discoveries into care that directly supports my patients.

What brings me joy is helping patients make sense of what’s happening in their bodies. There is always something we can do – whether that’s relieving symptoms, protecting your quality of life, or giving you back a sense of control in the midst of uncertainty.

I try to learn something from every patient I meet, and I find meaning in carrying those lessons forward to help the next person.

At MSK, I’m surrounded by colleagues who share this commitment. Even the rarest cancers are not rare here. We’re in this together, and I’ll with you through all of it.
