My name is Anita Kumar. I'm one of the attending physicians on the lymphoma service here at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
My father, who is a physician and a scientist, inspired me to become a doctor. Being a physician really allowed me to marry a love for science with a deep commitment for making a positive impact in patients' lives.
The first meeting with a patient is one of the most important interactions I have. My goal is to create an environment in which a patient feels reassured, comfortable, and listened to, where their unique hopes and needs and experiences are really heard.
It's really amazing to be part of this team and to be inspired at work everyday by the examples of my colleagues and what everybody is trying to achieve together.
