Meet Bernard Park: Thoracic Surgeon at MSK

Dr. Bernard Park treats lung and esophageal cancers at MSK in Manhattan and MSK Bergen, using robotic and minimally invasive surgery to speed recovery and limit side effects.

My father came to the U.S. as a physician to complete his postgraduate training. When nurses would call him in the middle of the night, his answer was always the same: “I’ll be there.”

Hi, I'm Dr. Bernard Park, a thoracic surgeon treating cancers of the chest, including those found in the lungs and esophagus. I’ve been here at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for two decades.

Growing up, I watched how my father impacted other people’s lives with his care, and that simple phrase “I’ll be there” has become my guiding principle. Whether it’s answering your questions directly, talking to your family after your surgery, or seeing you through your recovery, I want you to know I am here for you.

I’ve been a leader in robotic-assisted thoracic surgery since 2002, and my focus is always on using the least invasive, most effective approaches to treat your cancer and help you recover quickly.

At MSK, we do medicine differently. We don’t just perform surgery and move on; we follow your journey for life. And that kind of care is something I believe in deeply. That means I’ll be with you not only in the operating room, but long after – making sure you’re supported and have the resources you need to move forward with your life.
