Dr. Karuna Ganesh treats gastrointestinal (GI) cancers at MSK, including colon, rectal, and pancreatic cancers, with expertise in genetic testing, metastasis research, and clinical trials.

Everyone's cancer is unique and requires an approach developed just for them.

Hi, I'm Dr. Karuna Ganesh, a medical oncologist and physician scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, focused on advanced colorectal, neuroendocrine, intestinal, and anal cancers.

To provide the very best care for you, I want to understand the complexity of what's causing your cancer and what will keep it from coming back.

At MSK, we have the ability to analyze your type of cancer on a molecular level, so that we can develop a tailored treatment plan. We have many tools for doing this, including a test that determines which genetic mutations are causing the cancer. It's called MSK-IMPACT and was the first of its kind to be approved by the FDA.

The results of these tests tell us which standard treatments will work best for you, or they may also suggest a clinical trial, investigating a potential new therapy. At MSK, there are often more options, and there is always hope.

In addition to treating patients, I research why cancer cells spread and what can be done to fight metastasis.

Outside of work, my passion is traveling. I love exploring the world and the different cultures that make it so beautiful and awe-inspiring. I believe in living life to the fullest, and I want that for my patients and their families too.
