Dr. Luis Diaz treats gastrointestinal (GI) cancers at MSK, including colon and pancreatic cancer, using immunotherapy, liquid biopsy, and cutting-edge personalized care.
I became a doctor because I love two things: helping people when they need it the most and learning new things about science.
Hi, I am Luis Diaz. I’m a doctor who helps people with cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Every day, I try to make life better for my patients. I take care of people with tough cancers, like colon and pancreatic cancer, and I also lead a team of very smart doctors.
My team and I are always looking for new ways to treat cancer. We use special medicines and our new ideas to help your body fight the disease. Sometimes, we can even treat cancer without surgery or strong treatments that make you feel sick.
We use things like medicines that help your own body fight cancer, tests that use a small blood sample to check on your cancer, and computers and science to find the best treatment for you.
We also do research to find better treatments, and we share what we learn with other doctors around the world.
When you come to see me, we will talk about all your choices. I will explain what each treatment means and how it could help you. I always want to know, “How can we help you best?”
I feel lucky every day to help people and use science to make their lives better. This is what I love to do.
