Medicine can be demanding, but being able to support young patients and their families through some of the hardest moments of their lives is worth it.
Hi, I’m Dr. Michael Ortiz, an oncologist at MSK Kids, the pediatric program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for children and teens with rare tumors, and I lead a team dedicated solely to treating complex diagnoses.
When your child is diagnosed with a rare tumor, I know how overwhelming the uncertainty can feel, especially if you’ve already been through multiple appointments and still don’t have clear answers. MSK is one of the few places with extensive experience in even the rarest and most challenging cases.
When we first meet, we’ll talk through what we know and what options are available, whether that’s a standard treatment, a clinical trial, or a medication being used in a new way. I approach every case as a partnership with you and your child, always keeping your family’s priorities at the center of every decision.
My goal is for you to leave our visits knowing that every option has been thoughtfully considered so that you feel supported and hopeful.
