Hi, I’m Dr. Rachel Sanford, a breast medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I treat patients with breast cancer in Manhattan, as well as at MSK Westchester.
Before becoming a doctor, I studied English and biology. I’ve always loved combining words and science to remove the jargon and make complex ideas easier to understand, so you can make informed decisions about your health.
There isn’t just one kind of breast cancer. There are many, and each of them is different in every patient. At MSK, we are experts in diagnosing the molecular details of your cancer so we can find the right therapy. It’s why where you’re treated first matters so much.
I often tell my patients, “This is your body and your life. You are in charge of what happens.” My job is to walk with you through this chapter, giving you information and support, guiding you to the wealth of resources that MSK offers.
This is truly a place like no other. The science and resources here are unmatched, but what makes us special is how deeply we care for you as a person. You’re not just navigating breast cancer. You’re finding your way back to your life. It’s my joy and privilege to help you.
