Strengthening Exercises

Movement is an important part of your health and well-being, especially when recovering from an illness or treatments such as surgery, says Donna Wilson, RN, an exercise specialist with Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Integrative Medicine Service. Coordinating your breathing with each exercise increases oxygen flow and strengthens muscles. She demonstrates a variety of simple exercises to strengthen major muscle groups and boost your heart rate. These exercises can be performed while sitting in a chair or at the edge of your bed, or while holding light weights.
