MSK experts presented breakthrough findings in several areas of cancer research at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting. Highlights include advances in the treatment of liposarcoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer, prostate cancer, and multiple myeloma.
A clinical trial led by an MSK researcher found that the targeted therapy selpercatinib reduces the risk of recurrence by more than 80% for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancers carrying a RET gene fusion.
A clinical trial led by doctors from MSK has found that abemaciclib — a drug already approved for certain breast cancers — can significantly slow the growth of dedifferentiated liposarcoma, a rare, aggressive soft tissue cancer.
Results from EMERALD-3, a global phase 3 clinical trial, show that adding immunotherapy alongside a commonly utilized liver-directed procedure significantly delayed cancer progression in patients whose liver cancer has spread or cannot be treated with surgery.
An oral targeted therapy is showing promise for people with dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS), a rare subtype of soft tissue sarcoma, according to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) physician-scientists. Results from the long awaited SARC041 phase 3 clinical trial were presented today at the annual American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting.
