Get to Know Me

I am a board-certified hematologist oncologist who cares for people who have typically had difficulty getting cancer care. I am especially interested in issues surrounding women’s health, geriatrics, and homelessness. I have spent most of my career working with women and the elderly.

I began my career as a psychiatric social worker with an interest in urban poverty and its impact on health. Seeing the heavy burden that illness was to my clients lead me to medical school. While my role has changed, my work continues to revolve around developing and delivering medical care to the communities in the greatest need. I am devoted to serving people with limited access to health care due to poverty, mental illness, language barriers, and geography.

As a member of the multidisciplinary team at the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care, in collaboration with specialists at Memorial Hospital, I provide comprehensive cancer care and offer my patients access to clinical trials from a practice based in Harlem.

My research interests include developing ways to navigate accessing care that engage underserved people with cancer and establishing cancer prevention models for high-risk communities.

As a teacher, I introduce medical students to the realities of health care disparities early in their training. I want to demonstrate to them the social value and professional satisfaction of working to ensure that everyone has equal access to the best available treatment.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a hematologist-oncologist, which is a doctor who treats cancers of the blood. A hematologist (HEE-muh-TAH-loh-jist) diagnoses and treats blood disorders. An oncologist is a cancer doctor.
