Thymoma and Thymic Tumor Clinical Trials & Research

Currently, Memorial Sloan Kettering offers the only clinical trial worldwide for people with an advanced but potentially operable thymoma. The trial is part of the effort by our Thymoma Working Group to establish diagnosis and treatment standards for these cancers as well as for thymic tumors and thymic carcinoids. Many of the clinicians in this group are world leaders in the field.

A Phase II Study of Intensity-Modulated Pleural Radiation Therapy (IMPRINT) in People with Thymic Cancer that Has Spread to the Lining of the Lungs and Chest
Intensity-modulated pleural radiation therapy (IMPRINT) is a type of radiation therapy that specifically targets the lining of the lungs and the inner side of the ribs to stop cancer from growing. In this study, researchers are studying the safety and effectiveness of IMPRINT to one side of the chest (hemithoracic IMPRINT) to treat people with thymic cancer (cancer of the thymus gland) that has spread to the lining of the lungs and chest.
