The Bridge to Biostats Summer Program is a paid 7-week, in-person summer experiential learning program that aims to provide opportunities in data science and computing to New York City high school students, including those from under-resourced communities. Members of groups historically underrepresented in medicine and science (including but not limited to individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, women, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and persons with disabilities) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility & requirements:

High school student (rising sophomore to rising senior)
- Must be a New York City resident and attend school in NYC
- Interest in quantitative subjects (for example: math, computer science, statistics, data science)
- Can commute to midtown Manhattan (633 3rd Avenue New York, NY 10017), Monday through Friday
- One letter of recommendation
- Unofficial transcript
Students will:
- Learn fundamentals of statistics
- Learn basic programming in R
- Attend “statistical thinking” sessions
- Work on a cancer data analysis project and present results
- Be mentored by professional Biostatisticians
- Attend SAT prep classes and college/academic development workshops.
