Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) today announced the following awards and appointments:

Jennifer Oakvik and Adrienne Bloom Recognized by the Oncology Nursing Society Awards

Jennifer Oakvik, MSN, RN, CMSRN, nurse leader, received the Emerging Leader Award from the Oncology Nursing Society. This award recognizes an emerging oncology nurse leader who has made a significant impact in the oncology nursing profession. Adrienne Bloom, MA, BSN, RN, OCN, clinical nurse, was awarded the Excellence in Clinical Practice Award by the Oncology Nursing Society. This award recognizes excellence in clinical practice.

Jennifer Ross Majumdar, Aimee Dannaoui, and MaryAnn Connor Inducted into the New York Academy of Medicine

Jennifer Ross Majumdar, PhD, CRNA, nurse scientist; Aimee Dannaoui, MSN, RN, NE-BC, CAPA, director of nursing at the Josie Robertson Surgery Center; and MaryAnn Connor, MSN, RN, NI-BC, CPHIMS, FAMIA, FHIMSS, senior director and chief of Nursing Informatics, were inducted into the 2024 fellow cohort of the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). Elected by their peers, NYAM fellows and members are a community of distinguished professionals who share NYAM’s commitment to achieving health equity.

Margaret Baron-Burke Received the Distinguished Contribution to Nursing Research Award

Margaret Barton-Burke, PhD, RN, FAAN, director of Nursing Research, was awarded the Distinguished Contribution to Nursing Research Award by the Eastern Nursing Research Society. This award recognizes an individual for their sustained and outstanding contributions to nursing research.

Kenneth Offit Inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Kenneth Offit, MD, MPH
Kenneth Offit, MD, MPH, clinical geneticist and chief of the Clinical Genetics Service, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences is an honorary society of distinguished members and an independent research center that convenes leaders from across disciplines, professions, and perspectives to address significant challenges. Founders, including John Adams and John Hancock, envisioned that the organization would recognize accomplished individuals and engage them in meeting the nation’s challenges. The first members elected to the Academy in 1781 included Benjamin Franklin and George Washington.

Junhong Choi Named a 2025 Searle Scholar by the Searle Scholars Program

Junhong Choi, PhD, assistant professor and leader of the Junhong Choi Lab, was named a 2025 Searle Scholars. The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to selected universities and research centers to support the independent research of exceptional young faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry who have recently been appointed as assistant professors on a tenure-track appointment.

Adriene Boire Awarded the Project Grant R01CA300788 by the National Cancer Institute

Adriene Boire, MD, PhD, neurologist & neuro-oncologist and Geoffrey Beene Junior Faculty Chair, received the Project Grant R01CA300788 from the National Cancer Institute. This award provides funding for research into the relationship between inflammatory signaling in the leptomeninges, which are the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and the growth of leptomeningeal metastases, a lethal complication of cancer.

Chrysothemis Brown Awarded the W.M. Keck Foundation 2024 Research Program Grant

Chrysothemis Brown, MBBS, PhD, assistant attending and leader of the Chrysothemis Brown Lab  received the 2024 Research Program Grant by the W.M. Keck Foundation. The W.M. Foundation supports outstanding science, engineering, and medical research. Dr. Brown was awarded for her abstract, “Recruiting neuronal communication pathways for immune tolerance.”
 

MSK-IMPACT Team Received the American Association for Cancer Research Team Science Award

The MSK-IMPACT® (Integrated Mutation Profiling of Actionable Cancer Targets) team was awarded the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Team Science Award. This award recognizes interdisciplinary research teams for science that advances or is likely to advance our fundamental knowledge of cancer, or a team that has applied existing knowledge to advance the detection, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of cancer. The MSK-IMPACT team was recognized for developing and implementing a sequencing platform, which enabled the comprehensive molecular characterization of over 125,000 tumors and drove significant insights into cancer biology, biomarker-driven therapies, and precision oncology.

MSK Named to USA TODAY’s Most Trusted Brands of 2025

USA TODAY named MSK as one of its Most Trusted Brands of 2025. To compile this list, USA TODAY partnered with analytics firm Plant-A Insights to review public data and conduct a large-scale confidential survey among U.S. customers, where individuals were asked to evaluate companies they were familiar with and had a personal experience with. The list highlights 500 brands across 40 industries nationwide.
