Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Rockefeller University, and Weill Cornell Medicine/Hospital for Special Surgery conduct world-class biomedical research in diverse scientific disciplines. Animal resource programs at these institutions maintain and use a variety of species including mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, rabbits, amphibia, livestock, and non-human primates. The combined Tri-Institutional average daily animal census exceeds 300,000 animals, and more than 300 professional and technical personnel staff the animal resource programs. Animals are housed in ten distinct animal facilities on the Tri-Institutional campus. Specialized facilities include BSL-2 and BSL-3 animal facilities and laboratories; a multidisciplinary laboratory of comparative pathology and a genetically modified animal phenotyping service; rodent barrier facilities; a gnotobiotics facility; zebrafish core facilities; gene-targeted mutant mouse core laboratories; surgical facilities; and, small and large animal multimodality imaging centers. Additionally, trainees will participate in the oversight and operation of several off-site animal research laboratories and a field research center operated by the participating institutions located in White Plains and Millbrook, New York.
