Colin Malone, PhD

Get to Know Me

I am the Scientific Director of Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

I focus on developing and running advanced DNA tests that allow doctors to understand a patient’s cancer and choose the most effective treatment. This approach is known as precision medicine.

I oversee the full lifecycle of clinical NGS testing, from preparing a patient’s sample and sequencing its DNA, to using smart technology to keep operations running efficiently. I also partner with medical directors, data scientists, and leadership to advance MSK’s clinical genomics strategy.

Our work builds on landmark platforms including MSK-IMPACT, MSK-ACCESS, and MSK-TARGET, which together have supported the genomic profiling of more than 100,000 MSK patients. The goal is simple: by understanding a tumor’s DNA we can find better ways to fight it.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a molecular geneticist at MSK. A molecular geneticist has special training in studying genes to research and diagnose diseases and disorders.
