Get to Know Me

I am a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist who has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other conditions. This includes liver cancer as well as metastatic cancer that has spread to the liver from another part of the body. I also diagnose and treat cancer that has spread to the liver from ocular or uveal melanoma,  a type of cancer that begins in the eye.

In addition, I  treat lung cancer and kidney cancer using minimally invasive image-guided procedures. I specialize in radiological procedures including:

  • Embolization, which is a minimally invasive procedure that blocks or reduces blood flow in blood vessels.
  • Chemoembolization, a procedure that combines chemotherapy with embolization to treat cancer.
  • Y90 radioembolization, a procedure which combines radiation therapy with embolization to deliver targeted radiation to destroy the cancer.
  • Ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that is used to destroy the tumor.
  • Histotripsy, a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound waves to treat tumors.

As an interventional radiologist, I focus on treating the whole person, not just the cancer. I believe that this  enhances a person’s quality of life and makes the cancer treatments more tolerable.

Besides cancer, I treat conditions such as:

  • An enlarged prostate (BPH) with Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE)
  • Knee pain due to osteoarthritis with Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE)
  • Bleeding and uncomfortable internal hemorrhoids with Hemorrhoidal Artery Embolization (HAE)
  • Symptomatic uterine fibroids with Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
  • Varicoceles an enlargement of veins in the scrotum, and chronic pelvic pain in women, with Gonadal Vein Embolization

I see patients at Memorial Hospital, the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Westchester.

I have many decades of experience in radiology and have served in leadership roles within radiology departments at other institutions. I am a pioneer in the field of interventional radiology, and have created and developed a model for performing interventional radiology procedures in the outpatient setting. Most of the procedures I specialize in, can be performed in state-of-the art outpatient facilities located  closer to your home. This has added many layers of convenience and comfort for patients who can now access these treatments in a high quality and safe environment.

I am a founding member of the Outpatient and Endovascular Interventional Society. I was also awarded Fellow status in the Society of Interventional Radiology. I was also featured as on the Discovery Channel TV series called 911: The Bronx, a reality show that follows a team of emergency room doctors in a busy New York hospital. In addition, I was featured in a story on Vogue.com by a patient who wrote about the lifesaving Y90 radioembolization treatment I provided as part of her treatment for metastatic pancreatic cancer.
