Get to Know Me

From an early age, I’ve always had an astute interest in understanding how the body works. This led me to study biology during my undergraduate years and later landed me in medical school. Being a physician — specifically, a urologic surgeon — allows me to take something I am passionate about and make a difference in people’s lives.

This provider is part of a team that was ranked #1 in the nation for Urology Cancer Care this year by U.S. News & World Report.

In my work on Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Urology Service, I focus on urinary issues, including incontinence, obstruction, prolapse, strictures, fistula diseases, and erectile dysfunction, among others. Most of the patients I see have urinary problems due to either benign or malignant causes.

I believe in providing compassionate and personalized care to all my patients, whether we are addressing a routine urological problem or one that is more complex and could therefore require multidisciplinary treatment approaches. I am also a strong proponent of using the latest advances and technologies to provide the care that will get my patients the best possible outcomes. For example, I utilize da Vinci robotic systems to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries for prolapse or stricture diseases. I have extensive experience in reconstructive surgery, as well as nonsurgical techniques. I work with my patients to determine which approach — surgical, nonsurgical, or a combination of both — is best for their individual needs.

Outside of my clinical practice, I play an active role in academic medicine, where I am especially interested in clinical research and medical education. My research focuses on urinary issues associated with cancer care, and I have published multiple peer-reviewed studies and reviews on contemporary urologic practices in leading journals. I am a firm believer of the value of medical education and, in my previous position at New York University Langone Long Island, led urology resident training as Associate Program Director of the Urology Residency.

I was born in Hong Kong, but I grew up on Long Island and spent most of my life in New York. I consider myself to be a native New Yorker and love everything that this amazing city has to offer.
